As a singer, songwriter and record producer with a new TV show and album, Michelle Williams is one busy lady. But when the holiday season comes, the 34-year-old Christian entertainer finds time to unwind and get pretty. Here, she dishes on how she preps for holiday parties and reveals her must-have beauty products that will carry her into the new year.

ESSENCE: So wintertime is coming here and holidays. What’s your wintertime skin regimen?
Michelle Williams: More moisturizing! I use heavier creams now, and then in the summer time I might wear something that doesn’t leave oil. You know an SPF—which you should be wearing anyway. I also love my Clarisonic brush winter, spring, summer and fall. I don’t know if it’s because I’m getting older, but my skin is a little drier.

ESSENCE: What are your beauty must-haves this winter?
Williams: I love Kim Kimble’s silk shampoo treatment and conditioner. Even when I travel I take it with me. I even squeeze big bottles into the little bottles to make sure I can get through TSA.

ESSENCE: Do you have any tips for getting ready for the holiday parries?
Williams: When you think of the holidays, it’s something that’s classic. And I think ‘what would the divas wear?’ Dorothy Dandridge might not have a smoky eye, but she would have a red lip. But Josephine Baker would have that smoky eye. I do a smoky eye and a classic red lip. I also I like a good nude, peachy lip too. If you’re going to do a smoky eye, you might want to wear a nude lip. Smoky and red isn’t always the best—you might have too many things going on.

ESSENCE: Do you have a beauty routine that you follow when you’re going to holiday parities?
Williams: Yes, I might do an extra sugar scrub to have really glowy skin. Although it’s really cold outside, the dresses that you might wear might be off the shoulder, might show some shoulder. So you want your skin to look toned, even, and glowing.

ESSENCE: Do you have a favorite sugar scrub?
Williams: Fresh’s Brown Sugar Body Polish.

ESSENCE: Who are your beauty icons?
Williams: Definitely Dorothy Dandridge and Lena Horne. I also like seeing Janet Jackson with a fresh face and mole!

Tune-in to Williams’ show Fix My Choir, Wednesdays on Oxygen at 10 p.m. ET, and pick up her new album Journey to Freedom!

Exclusive: A Destiny’s Child Biopic coming soon?!

Exclusive: Sony Emails Reveal Destiny’s Child and Kanye West Movies, and Spidey Cameo in Capt. 3

Leaked emails reveal a planned Destiny’s Child biopic, Kanye West feature film, Spider-Man cameo in Captain America 3, Fox’s plans for an X-Men/Fantastic Four crossover, and more.

There’s also some film-related news involving some big names in music. An email dated December 4, 2013, from Screen Gems honcho Clint Culpepper to Pascal and a team of Sony execs discusses how Beyoncé’s father, Matthew Knowles, went to him to try and set up a Destiny’s Child biopic.

“Matthew Knowles, Beyonce’s Father wants to make the film of Destiny’s Child and came to me first,” wrote Culpepper. “He’s going to Universal next. Do we think it would be a successful film? They’re on Sony label. I’m just not sure that it’s not too soon.”

All the Sony execs return very enthusiastic responses, although there is a Destiny’s Child biopic currently slated for February 2015 on the Lifetime Network.

Source Michelle Williams on Her Faith, Spirituality, and Greatest Accomplishment

You may know Michelle Williams as one third of the chart topping trio, Destiny’s Child. But this child of destiny is out on her own and doing her own thing from her new show, Fix My Choir on Oxygen, to her latest NAACP award-nominated gospel album, Journey to Freedom.

Williams spoke with about how her relationship with God has helped her discover who she truly is.

When are you happiest?
I’m trying to get to a place where I can be just consistently happy regardless of the elements around me. I was watching a performance and someone was like, ‘You look really happy! You look happier and more authentic in these days that I’ve seen you before.’ I counted that as a compliment because I think if people think you’re being really authentic in what you do or they’re saying that I’m getting to see your personality and all of that, then that really makes me kind of happy.

Is faith a deal-breaker for your relationships?
I want them to believe, I want them to believe in God. I believe in Jesus. Do you believe John 3:16? We believe in that, cool. Then we can talk.

Who has been your greatest teacher?
Certain spiritual moments have been my teachers. One of my greatest lessons was to pay attention. I remember I was dating someone and on our first date, I knew that wasn’t my husband. I knew that. But I kept it going. I learned from that experience to pay attention to that thing that says “No.” Your greatest teacher is your spirit, your instincts.

Do you have a proverb or a scripture that gets you through tough times?
Proverbs 3: 5 and 6. The latter part is: “In all thy ways, acknowledge Him and He will guide your path” That’s when I’m feeling confused or which way to go, I always have to remember that. To ask God about it. He’ll tell you, He’ll show you, He’ll give you signs.

What do you consider your greatest accomplishment?
One of my greatest accomplishments is finally accepting my purpose and owning it. Some of my greatest accomplishments are people letting me know, ‘I found faith again because of you.’ A grown man tweeted me yesterday and was like, ‘I go to church again because of you.’ Things like that that also let me know, I believe right. I guess I’m on the right path doing what I’m supposed to do.

How do you manage criticism about being both a gospel and R&B artist?
I have come to embrace all aspects of the arts. My thing is, why do we only equate secular to music? No one complained when I did Aida or Chicago the musical or when I did the Color Purple and played Shug Avery and kissed Celie in the mouth! How come it’s only when we talk about music, do we say because I’m singing about love and God, I’m flip-flopping? God told me to work with people in the R&B world but still have a relationship with Him. So I worked with people who understand balance, who understand that God plants us in certain places to be an example to people.
