CocoaFab Interviews Michelle Williams on Reality TV
EXCLUSIVE: Michelle Williams SPEAKS On ‘Preachers Of L.A.’ & Sets The Record Straight On Reality Show Rumors
Michelle Williams may be an award-winning artist with a new album on the way but she’s also a reality TV fan just like the rest of us.
We caught up with the “Fire” singer to get her take on a few of our favorite shows.
“The other night I watched ‘I Dream of Nene’ and I wasn’t the only person in tears watching it. I think what I like about Nene’s show and other ones was how she was able to turn the negative stereotypes around and really build something,” she says. “You see Nene Leakes’ show and it’s produced by her. Maybe she will produce other shows. There are some really smart people who had a smart team who helped them turn it into a multi-million dollar empire.”
One show she’s tuning in to is Preachers Of L.A.
“It’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I don’t dig too deep in it. I just watch it,” she says. “It’s amazing that people are just looking to find something. Even before the show came out people had an opinion instead of giving it a chance.”
While the show is constantly criticized, Michelle pointed out the real work being done on the series so far.
“I do love the outreach that’s being done. Like on the last episode when Pastor Gibson got his sitter into rehab. It would be a real testimony if she stays in rehab and can show the world. I think that’s what reality TV can be used for because that’s so many people’s reality,” she said. “Or like when Pastor Haizlip prayed for that woman in the park. I would love to see the follow up of that.”
Michelle took time to point out the show’s honesty and encouraged fans not to be so judgmental.
“There is some honest ministry going on and then you have got some honest conflict. You have Deitrick Haddon who, like so many of us have wondered, ‘I’m in love with his person. Can I live with someone and be a Christian?’ That’s an honest conflict and he was bold bough to share it. Whether you like it or not, they’re showing honest conflict if you ask me.”
Michelle doesn’t seem too bothered by the backlash the show has received since it’s big debut.
“I haven’t seen anything hypocritical on that show,” she says. “I watch it but I don’t dissect it. I love it for the entertainment.”
When asked about her rumored reality show, My SIster’s Keeper, the singer set the record straight.
“We’ll see. That news came out a little premature. It’s something I’m still working on and still deciding on. A pilot was shot and some networks are interested. But once again, I’m happy to have the freedom to make the choice.” she says. “Do I really want to go through with this or not? I’m not sure yet. I’m just not sure about it anymore.”
